The 1009 is the full-gold sibling in the four-digit, no-date Oyster Perpetual group. Monaco Legend’s 2023 catalogue says the 1009 generation arrived around 1959 in 18K gold, alongside the [[Reference:1008|1008]], which it describes as available in steel and gold or 14K gold. This is an auction-house account, not a production record. The 1008 and 1009 share the 34 mm size in the catalogues reviewed here, but the evidence gathered for this page does not establish every case or dial detail as common between them.

==Production outline==

Monaco Legend dates its 1009 to 1969; Antiquorum dates another to 1968, and Phillips dates a pink-gold example to 1972. These are catalogue dates for three individual watches. They show the reference in use across those years, but do not establish its start, end or total production.

==Movement notes==

Antiquorum, Monaco Legend and Phillips each identify Cal. 1570. Antiquorum and Phillips specify 26 jewels. The three records agree on the calibre, but do not show whether other movements were used at any point in the 1009’s run.

==Dial map==

The catalogues document three distinct descriptions. Antiquorum’s 1968 yellow-gold watch has a silvered satin dial with painted lines crossing at 3, 6, 9 and 12, plus gold Alpha hands. Monaco Legend’s 1969 example has a black sector dial with gilt printing. Phillips describes its 1972 pink-gold watch as having a pink-silvered dial, without further layout detail.

Monaco Legend’s close view shows the black dial and its quarter lines on the same watch shown in the hero image. These records establish examples, not a complete factory dial list.

==Case, bezel, crystal, and crown==

All three catalogues give a 34 mm diameter. Antiquorum describes its 1968 watch as a three-body case with a screw-down back and crown. The lots document 18K yellow gold in 1968 and 1969, and 18K pink gold in 1972.

The decorated bezel is described as linen-textured and graduated by Antiquorum and Monaco Legend. Antiquorum calls it “Décor Soie”; Phillips calls the bezel and tops of the lugs “Florentine.” Those terms come from separate catalogue descriptions and should not be treated as a settled factory name for one standard finish. The catalogues reviewed here do not identify the crystal material.

==Bracelets, clasps, and packaging==

Antiquorum’s 1968 watch was sold with an 18K yellow-gold Rolex buckle on a leather strap. Phillips records a pink-gold Oyster bracelet on its 1972 watch, with end link 57 and a pink-gold folding clasp. Monaco Legend describes a yellow-gold bracelet with the 1969 watch.
