Rolex ran the Precision names alongside the Perpetual from the beginning. The automatic Oyster Perpetual arrived in 1933 on the Bubbleback platform, and the manual-wind Oyster Precision arrived four years later as the lower-priced parallel track. Manual-wind Precision production ended in the mid-1980s, by which point the Datejust and the automatic Oyster Perpetual had absorbed the non-sport catalog. The dial text outlived the manual movements: the Air-King carried Precision and Super Precision on automatic calibers from 1953 through the 14000M.

The line continues past this table into references BezelBase has not yet catalogued. The 6426 of the 1970s runs the same editorial logic as the 3003 of 1937: manual-wind Oyster, adjusted movement, no chronometer certificate, OYSTER PRECISION on the dial.

== Precision and Super Precision on the Air-King ==

The Air-King is where the designation ran longest and where the two grades are easiest to date. The originating 1945 generation reads PRECISION because the Hunter caliber was never chronometer-rated and Precision was the highest text available to it. From 1953 the automatic Air-Kings read SUPER PRECISION. From the early 1960s the text reverts to PRECISION or disappears from the dial entirely. The switch tracks the caliber generation, and neither grade is a chronometer certificate at any point in the sequence.

One authentication trap sits inside that map. A 4499 with SUPER PRECISION on the dial is carrying a service replacement, most likely a 5500-era Cal. 1530 dial; documented original 4499 dials read PRECISION, and the reference never left the factory with the Super Precision line.

== Super Precision outside the Precision line ==

The Bubbleback [[Reference:2764|2764]] carries a Super Precision dial branch on the Cal. 620N, and some of its dials also read "Officially Certified Chronometer." That combination shows what the grade words are doing. They describe the movement Rolex put in the case, not the family the watch belongs to. A Super Precision Bubbleback is a Bubbleback, catalogued under the Bubbleback hub, and the same holds for every Air-King in the table above.
