The 6094 is an Oysterdate Precision with central seconds and a date at three. Most sale descriptions call it hand-wound; Antiquorum’s 2018 listing calls one example self-winding. Recorded examples have steel or 18K yellow-gold cases and measure 33–35 mm. Catalogue dates run from circa 1950 to 1962, and Antiquorum assigned two different years to the same case.

Where it sits in the line

Colin A. White’s The Vintage Rolex Field Manual lists 6094 as an Oysterdate Precision with a smooth bezel, full-size case and stainless-steel construction; its caliber field is blank. Antiquorum uses “6094/6294” for one steel watch in a 2008 catalogue. That is the wording for that example.

Production outline

Auction catalogues date individual 6094s from circa 1950 to 1962. Antiquorum dates case 780350 to circa 1950 and case 745061 to 1961. It first dated case 744253 to 1961 in 2010, then to 1951 when the same watch appeared in 2012. Nearby case numbers carry different estimates: EveryWatch’s transcription of Bonhams dates case 881574 to circa 1952 and reports IV.52 inside its caseback; Christie’s dates 882963 to circa 1954; Antiquorum dates 882812 to 1962. A WatchNet listing dates serial 879,xxx to 1953. HASHTAGWATCHCO dates its masked 88XXXX 6094 to 1953 and shows the inside caseback marked 6094 / 1.53. An Omega Forums owner initially places his watch around 1952, then corrects the date to 1953. These are dates assigned to individual watches. EveryWatch’s transcription reports IV.52 inside case 881574. The cited caseback-code page includes numerals above IV, which complicates the common quarter-code reading. The stamp documents that caseback; its exact meaning and relation to the watch’s production date remain uncertain. [EveryWatch transcription of Bonhams, lot 85] [Caseback-code reference]

Movement notes

Antiquorum repeatedly labels 6094 movements Cal. 740 and usually gives 17 jewels. Christie’s and EveryWatch’s transcription of Bonhams describe 17-jewel movements without a caliber number. A close photograph of a separate 6094 movement shows “Rolex” and “17 jewels,” but no legible caliber stamp. WatchNet also lists Cal. 740 on a manual-wind 6094. These sources support a hand-wound, 17-jewel movement in the pictured examples; Cal. 740 remains a catalogue and seller attribution. [HASHTAGWATCHCO, ref. 6094 listing and movement photograph] [WatchNet, ref. 6094 listing]

Rolexopedia’s Movement page documents an automatic 26-jewel Cal. 740 in the Datejust ref. 4467. Watch-Wiki’s caliber index lists an automatic 18-jewel Cal. 740 for the Datejust. Antiquorum’s 2018 6094 headline calls case 882812 self-winding, while its specification field lists Cal. 740; its other 6094 entries describe manual winding. The number is attached to different movement descriptions. Until a 6094 movement with a readable caliber stamp is documented, this page reports 17-jewel manual winding and keeps “Cal. 740” as an attributed label. [Watch-Wiki, Rolex caliber index]

Dial map

The catalogued watches show several dial treatments. Antiquorum’s 2012 steel example has a matte silver dial, luminous steel dart and triangular markers. Christie’s 2007 example has a silvered matte dial with applied Arabic and baton numerals; EveryWatch’s transcription of Bonhams lot 85 records a black dial with a red date; Antiquorum’s gold example has a cream honeycomb dial with applied gold markers. A 2014 owner describes the date on his own 6094 as all red. Case, bezel, crystal and crown

The Field Manual lists a smooth bezel, and Antiquorum’s 2012 and 2024 photographs show smooth examples. Auction catalogues measure individual cases at 33 mm (EveryWatch transcription of Bonhams), 34 mm (Antiquorum) and 35 mm (Christie’s). The Field Manual places the reference in its full-size category. WatchNet measures its 879,xxx example at 34 mm and describes a plastic crystal.

Christie’s calls its 2007 example’s crown “Super-Oyster.” WatchNet describes its crown as winding without unscrewing, and an owner on Omega Forums reports the same for his watch. Antiquorum’s 2008 lot describes a screw-down crown; its 2012 lot specifies a screw-down caseback. The records disagree about the crown on individual examples.

The 2024 gold example’s caseback is stamped 6094 and 750. Those marks are visible on the photographed component.

Bracelets, clasps and packaging

Antiquorum shows case 744253 on a steel Oyster bracelet and lists a folded ref. 7835 bracelet on case 882812. A dealer listing for another 6094 identifies a ref. 7835 bracelet with 60 end pieces and a clasp code from the first quarter of 1954. That code dates the bracelet, not the watch head. An owner on Omega Forums says the 7205 bracelet on his 6094 came later than the watch. The listings document configurations, not original delivery fitment. Gold example

Antiquorum’s 2024 lot 173 shows a 34 mm 18K yellow-gold 6094 with a cream honeycomb dial, applied gold markers and manual winding. Its caseback bears the reference number and 750 gold mark. The lot attributes Cal. 740 to its movement.
