The 116519LN is the white gold Cerachrom Daytona on Oysterflex. It launched at Baselworld 2017, six years after the 2011 Everose 116515LN brought ceramic to the Daytona line, and one year after the steel 116500LN took the same Cerachrom architecture to the everyday catalogue. Forty millimetre white gold case, black monobloc Cerachrom bezel, the cal 4130 inside, Oysterflex strap from inception. Production ran six years before the 2023 cal 4131 transition.

Rolex introduced the 116519LN in 2017: a 40 mm white-gold Daytona with a black Cerachrom bezel, calibre 4130 and Oysterflex. Christie's dates the launch to 2017 and the reference's discontinuation to 2023. Auction guarantees document watches delivered in the launch year.

Where it sits in the line
The 116519LN sits at the centre of Rolex's 2017 Cerachrom-on-precious-metal Daytona launch. The 2011 Everose 116515LN had introduced ceramic to the Daytona, but only on a leather strap. The 2016 steel 116500LN brought Cerachrom to the catalogue's mainstream. The 2017 Baselworld release completed the architecture across precious metals: white gold (116519LN), yellow gold (116518LN), and a second-generation Everose (116515LN), all three on Oysterflex from inception, all three carrying the black monobloc Cerachrom bezel.
The 116519LN is the white-gold, ceramic-bezel Daytona on Oysterflex. The earlier 116519 is a separate reference: Rolex's 2015 catalogue specifies an engraved white-gold bezel and leather strap. At the 2017 launch, Rolex also offered yellow-gold 116518LN and Everose 116515LN versions on Oysterflex.

That launch was the Daytona's structural reset. From 1963 to 2016 every Daytona had worn either an aluminium tachymetre insert or an engraved metal bezel. From 2016 onward the catalogue split: the white gold leather-strap 116519 continued with its engraved white gold bezel, and the 116519LN replaced the leather-and-metal-bezel formula with Cerachrom and Oysterflex. The two references ran in parallel for several years before the engraved-bezel white gold leather configuration was retired.

The Oysterflex matters as much as the bezel. Rolex first deployed the elastomer-over-metal-blade strap on the 2015 Yacht-Master 40 (116655 Everose Cerachrom). The 2017 Daytona launch was its second flagship application, and the first time Rolex offered the strap on a chronograph. Every 116519LN Christie's has catalogued — 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 — carries the Oysterflex, and no leather configuration appears in Rolex's own catalogue for the reference.
Rolex introduced Oysterflex in 2015 on the Everose Yacht-Master. Its flexible metal blades are overmoulded with high-performance elastomer. The 116519LN has an Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension, which adjusts the strap by about 5 mm. Rolex lists Glidelock on the 2023 successor, 126519LN.

The successor 126519LN (cal 4131, 2023) sits outside this article's scope.

Production runs from the 2017 Baselworld launch to the 2023 Watches and Wonders cal 4131 transition — six continuous years on a single reference number. Christie's states both ends of that span in its own catalogue copy: the Oysterflex 116519LN launched in 2017, and the reference was discontinued in 2023. First-year delivery is corroborated by guarantee dates on catalogued examples, the earliest of them 24 September and 4 December 2017. The watch tracks the cal 4130 platform's late-life revisions across that span; the 116519LN entered production with Chromalight lume, the white gold Oysterlock clasp on Oysterflex, and the random-alphanumeric serial format already in place. There is no early-versus-late 116519LN generation chronology of the kind the longer-running 116520 carries.
Rolex's 2017 catalogue lists the 116519LN-0024 with a steel-and-black dial. Christie's dates the reference to 2017–2023, and auction records show guarantees issued in September and December 2017.

Every 116519LN serial sits in the random alphanumeric format that Rolex adopted in mid-2010 — eight characters with no public year mapping. See Reference:Serial-numbers for the modern serial system.
Serials from this period use random alphanumeric characters. They can place a watch in the modern serial system, but do not give a public year code; see Serial numbers by year.

The 2023 cal 4131 transition retired the 116519LN alongside the rest of the cal 4130 catalogue. The successor 126519LN inherits the white gold Cerachrom Oysterflex configuration with the new movement and a redesigned dial layout (transparent caseback, revised sub-register proportions). That successor is outside this article's scope.

<span id="movement-notes"></span>
Movement notes
Movement notes
Caliber 4130 sits inside every 116519LN — the same movement that has powered every cal 4130-generation Daytona since 2000. Vertical-clutch chronograph coupling, column-wheel switching rather than cam, 72-hour power reserve, 44 jewels, 28,800 vph, COSC certification, Parachrom blue hairspring throughout the 116519LN run. Hour and minute counters share a single side of the movement; the mainspring can be replaced without uncasing.
The 116519LN uses calibre 4130, Rolex's self-winding chronograph movement introduced in 2000. Rolex specifies a column wheel and vertical clutch. Sotheby's two circa-2021 catalogues list 44 jewels; Phillips lists 31 for its circa-2017 lot. The published counts vary by catalogue. The later 126519LN uses calibre 4131. See Calibre 4130 for the movement's development and lineage.

The 4130 is in mature form by the 2017 launch. The headline detail belongs to the rest of the generation: cal 4130 is Rolex's first wholly in-house chronograph, ending thirty-seven years of bought-in Valjoux 72 and Zenith El Primero bases. The 116519LN inherits that platform from a late-life production date rather than from 2000, and every example carries the architecture in its final cal 4130 specification.

For the full caliber lineage and the 4030-to-4130 architecture comparison see Reference:Movements#cal-4130. The 2023 transition to cal 4131 is documented under that section's late-history note.

The 116519LN dial catalogue runs narrower than the longer-running 116520 or 116509 — six years against sixteen or twenty, with the white gold Cerachrom configuration sitting at the catalogue's upper-mid tier instead of the mainstream. Dial variants documented across the production run:

The "ice blue" colourway sometimes attached to the 116519LN in collector chatter is a misattribution. Ice blue on Rolex Sport models is platinum-only — the dial colourway sits on the platinum Day-Date and the platinum 50th-anniversary Daytona 116506 (2013, also outside this article's scope). White gold dials in this period read as silver, steel, or grey-ghost rather than ice blue. The ruthenium and chocolate dials documented across the cal 4130 catalogue belong to the Everose 116515LN (chocolate) and yellow gold 116518LN (champagne) siblings.
Rolex's archived catalogue calls this configuration “Steel and black.”

The 116519LN case is 40mm in 18k white gold — the same case forging as the engraved-bezel 116519 and 116509. White gold cases in Rolex's modern catalogue generally run closer to the marketed 40mm than the steel forgings the 116520 article documents at 38.5mm measured (Fratello's Ben Hodges, 2021), though no published caliper measurement of the 116519LN exists to confirm it. Lug-to-lug tracks the rest of the gen-1 family at 46mm.

The bezel is the headline component. Black monobloc Cerachrom — Rolex's high-temperature ceramic — engraved with the tachymetre scale and platinum-PVD-coated for the numerals. Cerachrom replaces the engraved metal bezel of the parallel 116519, and on the white gold reference the contrast between the cool white gold case and the deep black ceramic ring is the visual signature of the configuration. Cerachrom is scratch-resistant on a different order from steel or precious metal: only diamond and a small set of comparable industrial abrasives mark it. The numerals are filled with platinum rather than printed in lacquer, eliminating the bezel-fade anxiety that defined aluminium-insert Daytona ownership through the manual-wind and Zenith eras.
Hardstone and coloured mother-of-pearl “Beach” dials belong to the earlier plain 116519, which has an engraved metal bezel and leather strap. Sotheby's also documents a white mother-of-pearl dial with diamond-set markers on an LN example.

The crystal is flat sapphire with no Cyclops; the running-seconds sub-dial sits at 6 o'clock. The Triplock crown handles 100m / 330ft water resistance with screw-down chronograph pushers either side. Pushers must be unscrewed before the chronograph can be started, the same trade-off the rest of the cal 4130 generation carries for the case's water rating.

Case, bezel, crystal and crown
The 116519LN ships on Oysterflex from inception, and the white gold Cerachrom Daytona never produced a bracelet configuration in the cal 4130 generation — that role belonged to the engraved-bezel 116509. One lot record complicates the strap picture. Antiquorum's Monaco catalogue for January 2023 lists lot 120, a silver-dial example retailed December 2018, on a leather strap with an 18k white gold deployant clasp, and its accessory list mentions no Oysterflex. Every Christie's lot across the same span carries the Oysterflex, so the Antiquorum entry most plausibly records an owner-fitted strap or a cataloguing slip. No factory leather option is documented for the reference, but the record is what it is.
Rolex's 2022 specification gives a 40 mm 18 ct white-gold Oyster case, screw-down case back, Triplock crown, screw-down chronograph pushers, sapphire crystal and 100-metre water resistance. The black Cerachrom bezel is a single piece with a moulded tachymetric scale. Rolex says it deposits platinum into the recessed numerals and graduations by PVD.

Oysterflex is Rolex's elastomer-over-metal-blade strap, first deployed on the 2015 Yacht-Master 40 (116655 Everose Cerachrom). A flexible titanium and nickel alloy blade runs through a moulded high-performance black elastomer. The strap reads as rubber from the outside, sits with the dimensional stability and longitudinal strength of a metal bracelet, and resists the perspiration and chemical-exposure failures that limit conventional leather. On the 116519LN the strap is integrated to the case via a white gold attachment piece that matches the case profile.

The clasp is an 18k white gold Oysterlock folding safety clasp with the Easylink 5mm comfort extension, the same adjustment Rolex fits to the metal Oyster bracelets of the generation. Fit is the practical caveat. Oysterflex ships in fixed-length halves, so the roughly five millimetres Easylink gives is the whole tool-free adjustment range, and the strap-length pairing matters more than it does on a metal bracelet. The wider Glidelock-style adjustment range arrived on the cal 4131 successors in 2023, which makes the clasp one of the tells between the two generations. See Reference:Bracelets for the cross-family clasp-and-strap documentation.
<span id="oysterflex-and-clasp"></span>
Oysterflex and clasp
Rolex never offered the 116519LN on a metal bracelet. Owners who wanted a white gold Oyster stayed with the 116509.
Rolex catalogued the reference on Oysterflex from its 2017 launch. The strap has two flexible metal blades overmoulded with elastomer and cushions on the inside; its Easylink extension adjusts the length by about 5 mm. Antiquorum's 2023 Monaco entry records one 116519LN on a leather strap with a white-gold deployant clasp. The catalogue does not say whether that strap was fitted at delivery.

The Cerachrom architecture and the 2017 launch
<span id="selected-auction-records"></span>

Selected auction records
The 2017 Baselworld release is the structural anchor for this reference. Rolex had introduced Cerachrom on the Daytona at Baselworld 2011 with the Everose 116515LN — a single configuration with a chocolate dial on a leather strap. Five years passed before the architecture spread to the rest of the catalogue. The 2016 steel 116500LN brought Cerachrom to the everyday Daytona, and the 2017 trio (white gold 116519LN, yellow gold 116518LN, second-generation Everose 116515LN) extended the configuration across the precious metals. All three 2017 references shipped on Oysterflex; the architecture's white-gold expression is the 116519LN.

The launch matters in two ways. It made the engraved metal bezel obsolete on the precious-metal Daytona within a single Baselworld cycle — the 116519, 116518, and earlier 116515 with engraved gold bezels continued in the catalogue but moved decisively toward end-of-life. And it brought Oysterflex to the chronograph for the first time, establishing the strap as the standard interface for the Cerachrom precious-metal Daytona generation. The 2023 cal 4131 succession kept the configuration intact: the 126519LN ships on Oysterflex with Cerachrom.

Meteorite-dial production
The meteorite dial is the 116519LN's most striking catalogue configuration and its least visible one. The white gold case and black Cerachrom bezel set the meteorite slice in higher contrast than the engraved-bezel 116509 did — the bright crystalline pattern reads against the dark ceramic ring instead of against another precious metal surface. Rolex has never published production volumes for the dial, so any claim about its scarcity within the wider 116519LN run is guesswork, and the auction record offers no help: the configuration appears in Rolex's own catalogue photography for the reference and in no located major-house lot. Each meteorite dial is geologically unique, which is why catalogue copy leans on photographs — words do not carry the pattern.

Historical market and auction record
The 116519LN appears intermittently in the major-house catalogues across its production run and after. Christie's carries the bulk of the record, and every Christie's lot located to date is a grey or silvered dial — the meteorite and mother-of-pearl configurations documented in Rolex's own catalogue have not surfaced in the public auction record for this reference.

Christie's and Phillips state that their published results include buyer's premium. Antiquorum's page gives the result published for its sale.

Five of the six results sit in a narrow band — roughly USD 37,000 to USD 45,000 equivalent, close to the reference's retail position and remarkably stable across five years. The sixth does not. The Champion Collection lot cleared HKD 819,000 in April 2022 against a house estimate of HKD 240,000 to 480,000, better than double the top estimate and something near three times what comparable grey dials achieved in New York and Dubai. The lot is a first-year example with a September 2017 guarantee sold inside a themed single-owner sale, and the catalogue offers no further explanation for the gap. One result at that level does not reset the band, and the rest of the record does not follow it.

Cerachrom-era references trade on configuration and condition, not on individual provenance, so the 116519LN hosts nothing like the single-artifact records that define the manual-wind Daytona catalogue. The 2023 cal 4131 transition reset the reference's market the way the 2016 116500LN announcement reset the 116520.
