Antiquorum catalogued a 3065/3159 made for Mappin, London: a circa-1938 steel-and-yellow-gold hooded case with a California-style Roman-and-Arabic dial, center seconds, and a Mappin retail signature. The lot sold for HKD 55,000 against a HKD 30,000–50,000 estimate. The catalog uses 3065/3159 as a combined designation; that catalog does not separate whether /3159 describes a case batch, a dial configuration, or both.
Antiquorum catalogued Mappin-signed case 56 996 as 3065/3159 in both 2009 and 2019. The 2009 entry dates it to 1947 and describes a 9¾-ligne movement with subsidiary seconds. The 2019 entry dates the same case to circa 1938 and lists an 11½-ligne movement and centre seconds, although its photograph shows a subsidiary-seconds register at six. The case number and matching photographs identify one watch across the two sales; its date and movement description remain unresolved.


The Mappin example is best treated as a documented retailer-specific configuration. Its existence does not make every California-dial 3065 a Mappin watch, and the slash designation should remain tied to the catalogued lot unless a stronger reference source separates the two numbers.
Christie's separately catalogued case 42 449 as ref. 3159, circa 1937. Its entry describes a 32 mm steel-and-gold hooded case, a 10½-ligne, 19-jewel Super-Balance movement, centre seconds, and a satin-finished silvered dial with applied gold indexes signed W. Rösch Berne. Its catalogue does not explain how that designation relates to Antiquorum's combined 3065/3159 entry.
