Oyster → 3019

Angled view of a small steel Rolex Oyster reference 3019 with Arabic dial, subsidiary seconds and screw-down crown
A Loupe This example has a silvered Arabic dial, small seconds and a large Oyster Patent crown.

Reference 3019 is a small, manually wound Rolex Oyster with subsidiary seconds. The records located here show steel cases around 24 mm and two different silver-toned dial layouts. Auction catalogues date examples to the 1940s and circa 1955; those attributions do not establish a production run.

Where it sits in the line

Both auction catalogues describe manual movements, placing the 3019 among manually wound Oysters rather than the self-winding Oyster Perpetuals collectors call Bubblebacks.

Production outline

Published dates for individual examples span the 1940s and circa 1955. Loupe This dates its 24 mm steel watch to the 1940s; Noonans assigns circa 1955 to a 23.5 mm example. Ricardo lists another 24 mm steel watch without a date. Noonans also reports case number 124854. The number falls in both an early-1940s chart range and Pergola’s 1955 band after the mid-1950s reset, so it cannot choose between the catalogue dates; see the serial-number guide.

Movement notes

Noonans describes its example as manual winding, 15 jewels, and Rolex Prima. Loupe This and Ricardo also describe manually wound examples but give no movement number. A specialist Oyster parts table lists 8¾ lignes and 15 jewels for the 3019; it does not name a calibre or identify the movements in the auction watches.

Dial map

The Loupe This watch has Arabic numerals, an outer minute track and engine-turned subsidiary seconds. Ricardo's listing shows applied gold-tone markers mixed with Arabic numerals and a subsidiary-seconds register. Its photographs do not show the caseback reference stamp, so the dial is a reported example rather than a verified factory variant. No broader dial sequence is established.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown

The auctioned and listed watches have stainless-steel cases measuring 23.5 to 24 mm across, depending on the catalogue. Loupe This describes a flat bezel and shows a large screw-down crown signed “OYSTER PATENT.” Noonans also describes a screw-down back and crown. The Ricardo seller reports an acrylic crystal but makes no water-resistance claim; the watch was not pressure-tested.

Bracelets, clasps, and packaging

The three located examples are shown or described on leather straps. These listings do not establish original delivery, a bracelet reference, or a clasp fitment for the 3019.
