Destro left-handed, green-black

The 126720VTNR is the left-handed Oystersteel GMT-Master II introduced at Watches & Wonders 2022. Its crown, crown guards, and date window sit at 9 o’clock, and it uses caliber 3285 with a green-and-black Cerachrom bezel. Rolex later introduced the white-gold 126729VTNR with the same left-handed layout and bezel colour.

VTNR follows the French verte-noir naming convention. “Sprite” and “Destro” are collector nicknames; neither is an official model name.

Where it sits in the line

The 126720VTNR added a green-and-black Cerachrom option to the steel GMT-Master II line. It followed the black, blue-and-black, and red-and-blue ceramic configurations and introduced the left-handed case layout to regular GMT-Master II production. The later white-gold 126729VTNR uses the same green-and-black colour code.

Rolex presented the 126720VTNR as a regular-production left-handed GMT-Master II rather than a limited edition. Earlier left-handed or reversed-crown Rolex examples exist, so the claim is limited here to this modern GMT-Master II production line.

Production outline

Rolex introduced the reference at Watches & Wonders 2022 on 30 March 2022, with Oyster (m126720vtnr-0001) and Jubilee (m126720vtnr-0002) bracelet options. Rolex's current catalogue still lists both configurations. The reviewed product material does not establish another factory dial variant.

Movement notes

Caliber 3285 powers the reference. Rolex specifies the Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, a 70-hour power reserve, and Superlative Chronometer precision of -2/+2 seconds per day after casing. The local hour hand is independently adjustable and the date is instantaneous.

The left-handed layout is expressed in the case, dial, crown, and date position; the reference still uses caliber 3285. Rolex's public specification does not describe an internally mirrored movement or a separate left-handed caliber.

Dial map

The standard dial is black lacquer with applied white-gold markers and Chromalight lume. The date window is at 9 o’clock, and the GMT-Master II text and 24-hour hand follow the modern platform specification. The same dial layout is used with the Oyster and Jubilee bracelet configurations.

The current Rolex material reviewed here documents one standard dial. The -0001 and -0002 suffixes identify the Oyster and Jubilee bracelet configurations; a complete year-by-year printing register is not published.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown notes

The 40mm Oystersteel case places the crown and crown guards on the left flank, with an uninterrupted right-hand side. Published dimensions are approximately 40mm diameter, 12mm thick, and 48mm lug-to-lug. The case follows the modern GMT-Master II architecture while moving the crown and date to the left.

The dial and Cyclops magnifier place the date window at 9 o’clock to match the left-side crown layout.

The bidirectional bezel uses a green-and-black Cerachrom insert with moulded numerals and graduations. The colour first appeared on the 126720VTNR and is also used on the later white-gold 126729VTNR. Rolex's technical material does not describe the numeral treatment as a separate platinum-PVD process.

The crystal is sapphire, with the Cyclops over the 9 o’clock date window. The crown is a standard Triplock screw-down set on the left inside its guards, and water resistance is 100m.

Bracelets, end links, clasps, and packaging notes

The reference launched in two bracelet configurations: the three-link Oyster -0001 and five-link Jubilee -0002. Both use an Oysterlock safety clasp and Easylink 5mm comfort extension.

Packaging is the standard Rolex presentation box and guarantee card in current-production format.

Bracelet variants (-0001 and -0002)

The three-link Oyster -0001 and five-link Jubilee -0002 are the two bracelet configurations documented for the reference. The case, movement, bezel, and dial specification is otherwise shared in the published product material. The Jubilee option follows the 2018 steel Pepsi's return to that bracelet in the modern GMT-Master II line.

Nickname branches: “Sprite” and “Destro”

“Sprite” is collector shorthand for the green-and-black bezel. It is not a Rolex product name and does not identify a separate variant.

“Destro” refers to the left-handed configuration. The term is collector shorthand; it does not alter the reference number or movement.

Historical market and auction record

The reference has appeared in auction and online sale records. Heritage Auctions catalogued a 126720VTNR in 2025, and EveryWatch records a Grailzee sale at US$17,745 in May 2026. These are selected public records, not a complete auction census or proof that every example trades above retail.

Prices vary with bracelet, condition, papers, service history, sale date, and venue. Launch prices differed by market and belong here as historical reference points, not as a current valuation.
