Where it sits in the line

Rolex introduced the 126610LV in the 2020 Submariner update, replacing the green-bezel 116610LV. The Date model joined the black-bezel 126610LN; both have black dials. The no-date steel watch from the same update is ref. 124060. The broader sequence appears on the Submariner family page.

Production outline

The green-bezel Date has appeared in three steel references. Rolex introduced the 16610LV in 2003 for the Submariner's 50th anniversary, with a black dial and green anodized-aluminium insert. In 2010, the 116610LV replaced it with a green Cerachrom bezel and green sunburst dial. The 126610LV returned to a black dial when it arrived in 2020, keeping the ceramic bezel. Rolex's 2020 brochure documents the new 41mm generation and Cal. 3235.

Bezel variants

Monochrome's 2024 comparison describes an earlier, darker green insert and reports that Rolex changed to a brighter, more saturated shade in 2023. It calls the earlier and later versions “MK1” and “MK2.” Rolex lists the watch under one reference, 126610LV. Monochrome gives no serial cutoff for the change.

The earlier 16610LV also used a green insert, but in anodized aluminium. Its colour and finish differ from the uniform ceramic insert on the 126610LV. “Kermit” usually refers to the 16610LV, “Hulk” to the green-dial 116610LV, and “Starbucks” to this black-dial 126610LV. Monochrome reports “Cermit” as another name for the current model, used less often.

Movement notes

Rolex specifies the self-winding Cal. 3235, instantaneous date with rapid setting, a stop-seconds function, and an approximate 70-hour power reserve. It lists the Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrom hairspring, and Paraflex shock absorbers. Rolex's stated precision standard is −2/+2 seconds per day after casing. The preceding 116610LV used Cal. 3135.

Dial map

The dial is black lacquer, with applied 18ct white-gold markers and hands filled with blue-emitting Chromalight, according to Monochrome's launch review. The applied markers are circles, rectangles, and a triangle at 12; a date window sits at 3 under the Cyclops lens. The dial text identifies the model as “Submariner Date” and gives the 300m / 1,000ft depth rating.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown notes

Rolex specifies a 41mm Oystersteel case, a green unidirectional 60-minute Cerachrom insert, and platinum-coated numerals and graduations. The screw-down Triplock crown, solid caseback, sapphire crystal, Cyclops date lens, and 300m water-resistance rating are shared with the black-bezel 126610LN. Monochrome's 2022 review reports 40.5mm diameter, 12mm thickness, and 47.6mm lug-to-lug; Rolex lists the nominal diameter as 41mm.

Monochrome describes the bezel as having 120 clicks. Rolex's current specification confirms unidirectional rotation but does not state the click count.

Bracelet and clasp notes

The watch uses Rolex's three-piece solid-link Oyster bracelet in Oystersteel. The clasp combines an Oysterlock safety catch with the Glidelock extension; Rolex describes it as adjustable without tools. Monochrome reports a 21mm width at the lugs and about 20mm of Glidelock adjustment in increments of roughly 2mm.
