Oyster Perpetual → 6744

18K yellow-gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6744 with silver dial and green crossed swords
Piccolo Oro di Spangaro & C., lot 28, 2025.

Auction records identify ref. 6744 as a gold, time-only Oyster Perpetual with automatic Cal. 2030 and a case around 30 mm. Three catalogue records describe two forms of green Omani mark. Christie’s describes a Sultan Qaboos signature; Antiquorum calls its dial champagne with an Oman sword logo, while Spangaro describes a silver Sigma dial with crossed swords. The Antiquorum and Spangaro records may concern the same watch, so they do not establish two separate sword-dial examples. These sale descriptions do not establish when either dial was fitted.

Where it sits in the line

Christie’s and Spangaro describe their watches as Oyster Perpetuals. Antiquorum catalogues its example jointly as refs. 6744/6751; that shared attribution belongs to the lot. Secondary caliber tables place 6744 among Cal. 2030 Oyster Perpetual references. The material reviewed here does not date the start or end of production.

Production outline

The catalogues date individual examples to around 1974. Christie’s lists case 3,625,979; Antiquorum lists case 3,760,425. Spangaro gives only the partial serial 3,760XXX and may describe Antiquorum’s watch: the catalogues both mention an engraved back, and Spangaro’s photographs show the initials K.R. The matching prefix suggests a link, though the incomplete serial prevents confirmation. These lot dates anchor individual watches; a production span has not surfaced. The serial-number guide explains why these catalogue dates remain lot-specific.

Movement notes

Christie’s and Antiquorum identify Cal. 2030 in their respective examples. Christie’s specifies 28 jewels and a steel rotor. The Rolex Forums model-to-caliber table also maps 6744 to Cal. 2030, but it is a collector cross-reference rather than factory documentation. The auction records are the stronger evidence for fitment.

Dial map

Christie’s describes a textured champagne dial with Sultan Qaboos’s green signature. Antiquorum records a champagne dial with the Oman sword logo; Spangaro describes a silver Sigma dial with green crossed swords at six. The latter two records may describe one watch. The catalogues document the dials as found at sale; factory installation and the full dial range remain uncertain.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown notes

Christie’s describes a tonneau-shaped 18K gold case with a textured bezel, screw-down back and screw-down crown. Antiquorum calls its bezel bark-finish and gives a 30 mm diameter. Spangaro lists a domed Plexiglas crystal and screw-down caseback. These lot descriptions show the details recorded on individual watches; the full bezel and crystal range remains undocumented.

Bracelets, end links, clasps, and packaging notes

Christie’s records an 18K Rolex mesh bracelet with deployant buckle. Spangaro lists an 18K gold Rolex bracelet and photographs its textured links and clasp. These pairings document individual watches; original delivery fitment across the reference remains unknown. No reference-specific box or papers appear in the reviewed records.

Special branches

The records document a green Sultan Qaboos signature and a green crossed-swords mark on 6744 examples. Phillips describes Khanjar watches more broadly as commissions associated with Sultan Qaboos. That context explains the emblem; production quantity and factory dial fitment for ref. 6744 remain unresolved.
