Rolex Day-Date 36 ref. 118399BR in white gold with a lapis lazuli dial and baguette diamond bezel
A lapis-dial 118399 BR catalogued by Sotheby's as circa 2018.

Reference 118399 is the 36 mm white-gold Day-Date with a bezel set with 60 baguette diamonds. Rolex's 2011 US price list gives a 31-jewel chronometer movement and lists Oyster and President bracelet options. Rolex names calibre 3155 for the gem-set 118399 BR in its 2013 material; its 2015 Netherlands list records further dial choices.

Where it sits in the line

The 118399 pairs a white-gold case with the baguette-set bezel also listed for yellow-gold 118398. The white-gold 118389 has a brilliant-cut diamond bezel and diamond-set lugs; 118239 uses a fluted bezel. Rolex's US price list distinguishes these configurations directly. Its 118399 entry uses the shorter number, while its 2013 and 2015 material writes the gem-set version as 118399 BR. Antiquorum later catalogued case 5H763096 under 118399 without the suffix. This page groups the BR form with 118399; the source records do not define the suffix's scope.

Production outline

Rolex listed 118399 in the US by May 2011. Its Baselworld 2013 product material identifies 118399 BR among the Day-Date “Sertie” models. The Netherlands price list from 2015 retains that label. Antiquorum describes case 5H763096 as a circa-2010s 118399. Sotheby's dates a lapis-dial 118399 BR to circa 2018.

A Rolex Forums owner wrote in August 2015 that he had ordered an 118399 BR in April and collected it that summer. He described a meteorite dial, 60 baguette bezel diamonds, and a President bracelet. Christie's later catalogued a 2015-guaranteed example with the same dial and bracelet combination.

Phillips catalogued an unworn 118399 BR in 2026, estimating the watch at circa 2022 and recording a Rolex guarantee dated April 2022. That example postdates Rolex's 2019 introduction of the Day-Date 36 with calibre 3255. The records establish catalogue appearances and individual examples, but do not settle the reference's launch or final production year.

Movement notes

Rolex's 2013 material specifies calibre 3155, an automatic movement with day and date displays, 31 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, and a stated 48-hour power reserve. It also describes the blue Parachrom hairspring. Christie's and Sotheby's identify calibre 3155 in their 118399 BR examples. See the movement index for the wider 3155 lineage.

Dial map

Rolex's 2013 release describes the openwork carousel ring in 18 ct white gold, set with 217 diamonds and inlaid with pink or white mother-of-pearl. Its 2015 list adds a white carousel dial and an Oxford mother-of-pearl option with platinum reflections. The same list prices a dial with eight round and two baguette diamonds. Auction catalogues also document floral mother-of-pearl, lapis-lazuli, and meteorite dials on individual watches:

Dial branch What the sources document
Floral mother-of-pearl Antiquorum describes case 5H763096 with a mother-of-pearl dial engraved with floral motifs and diamond indexes; the catalogue dates it to circa the 2010s.
Carousel mother-of-pearl Rolex described pink or white mother-of-pearl around an openwork, diamond-set white-gold hour ring in 2013; the 2015 list names a white carousel option.
Oxford mother-of-pearl Rolex's 2015 list offers a platinum-reflection Oxford dial with eight diamond and two baguette markers.
Diamond markers The 2015 list offers eight round and two baguette diamonds on the dial.
Lapis lazuli Sotheby's catalogued a circa-2018 example with a lapis dial and diamond markers.
Meteorite Christie's described a 2015-guaranteed example with a meteorite dial and diamond-set numerals.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown

Rolex's 2013 sheet gives a 36 mm 18 ct white-gold Oyster case, a screw-down fluted caseback, a screw-down crown with Twinlock, sapphire crystal, and a Cyclops lens over the date. It states 100 m water resistance. The bezel carries 60 baguette diamonds; the 2015 Netherlands list gives an approximate total weight of 1.81 ct. Sotheby's photographs show the case profile and back of one watch, but do not establish the construction or condition of every example.

Bracelet, clasp, and packaging

Rolex's 2011 US list pairs 118399 with Oyster bracelets 73209 and 73859 and President bracelet 83209. The 2013 118399 BR material describes a solid-link Oyster bracelet with a concealed folding Crownclasp; the 2015 Netherlands list shows 73209 and 83209. Rolex listed these configurations, while the auction examples show President and Oyster bracelets on individual watches. Sotheby's records a guarantee, instruction manual, and box with its lot.

Auction record

Christie's catalogued case 6016D9P2 with a 2015 guarantee, meteorite dial, diamond-set numerals, and President bracelet. A Rolex service letter in the lot was dated 2018.

Antiquorum sold case 5H763096 in 2025 for HK$362,500. Its catalogue identifies the watch as ref. 118399, circa the 2010s, in 18k white gold with a floral mother-of-pearl dial and Oyster bracelet 73209.

Sotheby's sold case V52811C8 in 2024. Its catalogue describes a circa-2018 white-gold 118399 BR with a lapis dial, calibre 3155, and President bracelet. Phillips sold another 118399 BR in 2026 for HK$444,500. Phillips called that watch circa 2022 and recorded a guarantee dated 22 April 2022; it was described as unworn and fitted with an Oyster bracelet. These auction records anchor individual examples; the reference's production span remains undated at both ends in the sources reviewed.
