Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6718
Oyster Perpetual → 6718
Ref. 6718 is a ladies' no-date Oyster Perpetual with central seconds and automatic Cal. 2030. Auction catalogues show steel, two-tone and gold examples from the 1970s and early 1980s. Their dates and specifications describe individual watches; factory endpoints and the full factory option list remain unconfirmed.
Core facts
| Detail | Documented record |
|---|---|
| Model | Ladies' Oyster Perpetual, without a date display[1][2] |
| Movement | Automatic Cal. 2030; exact-reference catalogues list 28 jewels[3][4] |
| Case materials | Auction examples in steel, steel and gold, 14K yellow gold, and 18K yellow gold[5][6][7][8] |
| Case diameter | Auction listings give 24–26 mm; the sources do not explain their measurement methods[9][8][10] |
| Catalogue dates | Individual examples are dated 1973–1982; factory endpoints remain unconfirmed[11][8][12] |
Where it sits in the line
The exact-reference catalogues describe 6718 as an Oyster Perpetual Lady. A collector-maintained Rolex Forums reference list places it in the same ladies' group, but adds no technical evidence.[13] The watch has no date display; its Cal. 2030 should not be confused with the calendar-equipped Cal. 2035 described in Rolex's service manual.[4]
Production outline
The records gathered here date particular 6718 watches between 1973 and 1982. Pandolfini dates a yellow-gold example to 1973; Antiquorum describes a steel watch sold in 1978; Sotheby's dates its Tiffany-signed gold example to circa 1981; Antiquorum calls a steel watch made in 1982 new old stock.[11][5][8][14] The dates provide individual checkpoints; factory start and end dates remain unconfirmed.
Movement notes
Exact-reference auction catalogues identify automatic Cal. 2030, often with 28 jewels. Rolex's 1978 technical manual describes Cal. 2030 as an automatic movement with sweep seconds and a hacking feature. The manual distinguishes Cal. 2035 by its calendar; that is the useful comparison for a time-only 6718.[4][5][8]
Dial map
The table gathers dial examples from catalogue descriptions and photographs. The 2015 Antiquorum image shows a black dial; its text leaves the color unnamed.
| Example | What the source records |
|---|---|
| Blue | Antiquorum's 2011 steel watch; its lot text names a blue dial.[5] |
| Silvered or textured silver | Sotheby's Tiffany-signed gold example and Antiquorum's 2025 steel watch.[8][15] |
| Champagne | Chiswick describes a champagne sunburst dial on its 14K example.[9] |
| White with Roman numerals | Pandolfini's 2021 gold example is described with printed Roman numerals and applied tritium markers; Dorotheum also records a white Roman-numeral dial on a steel example.[11][16] |
| Black | Visible in Antiquorum's 2015 lot image; the catalogue text does not name the color.[14] |
-
Antiquorum, 2011 lot 252: blue-dial steel example.
-
Antiquorum, 2025 lot 202: silvered, textured dial.
-
Antiquorum, 2015 lot 102: black dial visible in the catalogue photograph; color not stated in the text.
Case, bezel, crystal, and crown
The catalogued cases include steel, steel and gold, 14K yellow gold and 18K yellow gold. Case diameters in the cited lots range from 24 to 26 mm; catalogues give no measurement method, so keep each figure attached to its lot.[9][11][8][17][18]
The Chiswick 14K watch and Setdart's two-tone example have smooth bezels; Finarte catalogues a fluted bezel on its 18K gold watch. A 2010 Rolex Forums sale post also describes a seller-identified 6718 with a smooth bezel.[9][19][18][20] These examples document both bezel profiles; factory availability remains unresolved. Crystal and crown specifications remain undocumented in the sources reviewed here.
Chiswick reports an inner caseback stamped 6700 on a watch catalogued as ref. 6718. The catalogue does not explain the stamp, so treat it as a lot-specific marking discrepancy.[9]
Bracelets, clasps, and packaging
The sale records show 6718 watches on Oyster, Jubilee and President bracelets. Chiswick describes a riveted 14K bracelet with clasp stamp 7204; Sotheby's lists an 18K Jubilee, Finarte a President bracelet, and Antiquorum's steel 2011 example an Oyster bracelet. The 2010 Rolex Forums post describes a Jubilee on its seller-identified steel watch.[9][8][18][5][20] These are configurations on individual watches; original delivery and broader fitment remain unverified.
Antiquorum's 2011 lot included a certificate marked void. Its 2015 catalogue called a separate watch new old stock and pictured a hang tag. Those accessories and condition descriptions belong to those lots alone.[5][14]
Special examples
Sotheby's records one 18K yellow-gold 6718 with a silvered dial signed Tiffany & Co. The retailer signature is visible in the catalogue images and is specific to that watch; the catalogue documents one retailer-signed example, with no separate factory variant identified.[8]
Pandolfini alone records a rose-gold ref. 6718/8 in the sources reviewed. Its title calls the watch a “Date Just Lady,” while the description lists Cal. 2030 and central seconds without describing a date display. The catalogue leaves the model identification unresolved.[21]
