Ref. 114210, Anglia Car Auctions lot 135

Ref. 114210 is the 34 mm stainless-steel Air-King with an engine-turned bezel. It joined the smooth-bezel 114200 and white-gold-bezel 114234 in the Air-King generation specialist histories date to 2007. Rolex's 2008 U.S. catalogue specifies a 31-jewel chronometer movement, sapphire crystal and Oyster bracelet 70190.

Where it sits in the line

Rolex introduced three 34 mm Air-King references in this generation. The 114200 has a smooth steel bezel, the 114210 an engine-turned steel bezel, and the 114234 a fluted white-gold bezel on a steel case. Rolex's March 2008 U.S. list specifies bracelet 70190 for all three and places the 11-diamond Roman option under 114234.

The 114210 followed the 14010M, which also had an engine-turned steel bezel and Cal. 3130. The newer reference adds chronometer certification. The later 40 mm 116900 uses a different case and movement.

Production outline

Ross Povey's 2020 Revolution history and Watch-Wiki place the 114210 in the Air-King generation introduced in 2007. Rolex's March 2008 and September 2010 U.S. lists name it as the engine-turned member of the 1142xx range. The September 2010 Spanish list names 114200 and 114234 but omits 114210.

The later entries vary by market. The May 2011 and June 2012 U.S. model tables list 114200 and 114234; their parts tables still name bracelet 70190 for all three references. A July 2011 Hong Kong price transcription includes 114210. Fulleos's transcription of the April 2014 Japanese list includes it; Oyster Club's version omits it. Those competing transcriptions leave the final production year uncertain.

Movement notes

Heritage's 2025 lot identifies Cal. 3130 in one example. Rolex's 2008 list specifies a 31-jewel chronometer movement and leaves the caliber unnamed. The 114210 is time-only; no movement change within its run is documented.

Dial map

Surviving listings and photographs document several dial executions.

Blue concentric with orange Arabic numerals Watches of Knightsbridge lists one 2007/08 ref. 114210 with this dial.
Silvered dial with rose-colored 3-6-9 numerals and batons Anglia Car Auctions lot 135 describes Arabic quarters; its photographs show rose-colored numerals at 3, 6 and 9 with matching baton markers.
Salmon-pink with luminous batons and Arabic quarters Bonhams lot 237 describes this dial on a 114210. Its bezel description conflicts with Rolex's engine-turned specification, so only the dial description is carried here.

White Roman Christie's lot 5454653 pictures a white Roman-numeral dial. Its circa-2006 date and 35 mm measurement differ from the generation date and Rolex's 34 mm specification.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown notes

Rolex specifies a 34 mm stainless-steel case, engine-turned steel bezel and synthetic sapphire crystal. The bezel separates the 114210 from the smooth-bezel 114200 and the white-gold fluted bezel on 114234. Christie's calls its lot's bezel “coin-edge”; that is the catalogue's wording for one watch, not Rolex's description of the reference.

Anglia's lot includes a guarantee card dated 2011, and its photographs show the crown, case flank and bezel. The listing gives a width of 37 mm including the crown; Rolex specifies a 34 mm case diameter.

Bracelet, clasp, and packaging notes

Rolex's 2008, 2011 and 2012 U.S. lists specify Oyster bracelet 70190 for refs. 114200, 114210 and 114234. The 2012 parts table describes it as 19 mm, 13 links, with an Oysterclasp. These are catalogue fitments; an individual watch's original bracelet needs its own evidence. A clasp date applies to the bracelet, not the watch head.

Watches of Knightsbridge reports a 78350 bracelet, AD7 clasp and 557B end links on one 2007/08 114210. The bracelet and clasp stamps are unreadable in the photographs, so this remains a single-watch report; Rolex's parts lists specify 70190 for the reference.

Anglia's lot includes a guarantee card dated 5 July 2011 and issued in Seoul, as well as a box, wallet, booklet and tags. Those are the contents of that lot, not a standard package for the reference. The same lot's clasp photograph shows an open Oyster clasp, but the stamp is not clear enough to read a bracelet or clasp code.
