The 124060 is the no-date Submariner introduced in 2020. It replaced the 114060 and brought the no-date model into Rolex's current movement generation: a 41 mm Oystersteel case around calibre 3230, with a black Cerachrom bezel and a flat sapphire crystal.

Where it sits in the line
The 124060 is the current time-only Submariner. Its direct predecessor is the 114060 (2012–2020); the earlier no-date sequence includes the 14060 and 14060M. The date-equipped 2020 models use calibre 3235, while the 124060 uses the no-date 3230. The practical distinction is the date function and the movement that supports it.
Production outline
Rolex presented the 124060 in September 2020 as part of the redesigned 41 mm Submariner range. The catalogue has continued to show one steel, black-dial, no-date configuration. The launch changed the proportions rather than creating a long list of dial branches: the case grew by 1 mm on paper, the bracelet's end-link width increased from 20 to 21 mm, and the lugs and crown guards were reshaped. Published factory material does not document a separate early or late 124060 dial variant. A replacement dial, bezel or bracelet on an individual watch should therefore be described as a service or later part unless its provenance proves otherwise.
Movement notes
Calibre 3230 is Rolex's self-winding, no-date movement for this generation. Rolex specifies a Chronergy escapement, a blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. The movement is first officially certified as a Swiss chronometer and then tested after casing to Rolex's Superlative Chronometer standard of −2/+2 seconds per day. The 3230 replaced the 114060's calibre 3130; the practical change most consistently documented at launch is the longer reserve, from about 48 hours to about 70.
Dial map
The catalogue configuration is a black no-date dial with the Submariner's triangular, round and baton hour markers and broad hands. Rolex's Chromalight material describes the blue long-lasting lume used for the display. The absence of a date aperture and Cyclops lens is the useful identification point when comparing the 124060 with a 126610LN. The 124060 is documented with one black catalogue dial; a separate factory colour or text branch has not been identified.
Case, bezel, crystal, and crown notes
The monobloc middle case is 41 mm in Oystersteel with a screw-down case back. The bezel turns in one direction and carries a 60-minute black Cerachrom insert; Rolex says the numerals and graduations are coated in platinum and that a luminescent capsule marks zero. The crystal is sapphire and has no Cyclops lens. The crown uses Rolex's Triplock triple-waterproofness system and sits behind integral crown guards. Rolex rates the assembled watch to 300 metres.
The 2020 redesign is easier to see in profile than in the diameter figure. Contemporary launch reviews describe slimmer lugs and changed crown guards compared with the 114060. Exact lug-to-lug and thickness comparisons vary with measuring method, so they are not treated here as factory specifications.
Bracelets, end links, clasps, and packaging notes
The 124060 is delivered on an Oyster bracelet made from Oystersteel. Rolex identifies it as a three-piece solid-link bracelet with an Oysterlock safety clasp and a Glidelock extension that permits tool-free adjustment for a diving suit. The 2020 redesign widened the connection at the case from 20 to 21 mm. Rolex's public product sheet does not publish a separate end-link number; an end-link or clasp stamp should be recorded from the individual bracelet, and dates that bracelet rather than the watch head.
Rolex's product page identifies the current watch and its technical equipment, but does not define a reference-specific box, tag or paperwork set. Those items should be dated from the warranty card and other documents supplied with the individual watch.
Special branches
Rolex's catalogue lists one steel, black-dial, no-date configuration for the reference. Custom dials, aftermarket bezels and later service parts should not be presented as 124060 variants without dated Rolex or watch-specific evidence.
Historical market and auction record
The 124060 is a current-production reference rather than a vintage auction reference, so auction lots do not define a serial or variant map. Rolex's US product page currently lists the watch at US$10,050; that is a current list price, not an auction result. Early launch coverage recorded a lower 2020 list price and is useful for chronology only. Asking prices and dealer listings are not treated as sales data here.
