Where it sits in the line

The 15007 belongs to Rolex's five-digit Oyster Perpetual Date group, usually associated with Cal. 3035. Antiquorum's 2014 catalogue prints the combined designation 15007/15000. Other catalogues identify the watch simply as 15007; the meaning of the paired number remains open.

The five-digit Date generation brought the quick-set Cal. 3035 to the 34 mm Date. Guides to the wider 150xx group place it in the 1980s and describe acrylic crystals. The dates below are individual examples; the production range for the 15007 remains open. Five-digit Date reference guide; 150xx Date history

Collector posts group the 15007, 15017 and 15037 with smooth, engine-turned and fluted bezels, respectively. Two Bonhams catalogue records also label fluted watches as 15007s: a 2010 lot described as 18ct gold and a 2025 lot described as 14k. The 2025 catalogue calls its watch a Datejust, and its photograph leaves the reference engraving out of view. A 2026 forum seller makes the same claim; the post's images were unavailable for inspection. Exact-reference listings repeatedly describe smooth bezels. Whether the fluted bezel was a factory 15007 option remains disputed.

Production outline

The catalogue record includes examples dated from circa 1981 through circa 1987. Chiswick dates case serial 6,722,084 to circa 1981. Another listing also dates an example to 1981. Antiquorum dates case 9,110,433 to circa 1986, and Sotheby's dates case R'277'170 to circa 1987. These are dates for individual watches; the factory production limits remain unknown. The Bonhams/EveryWatch fluted-bezel attributions are discussed below because their reference identification is uncertain.

Circa 1986 Antiquorum, lot 232 Case 9,110,433; Cal. 3035; Jubilee bracelet; Chevrolet trademark reported on the caseback

Circa 1987 Bonhams lot 47, via EveryWatch Case R277196; movement 2143089; archive says 14k and 33 mm, calls the model Datejust, and shows a fluted bezel with the case engraving out of frame

Movement notes

Most exact-reference catalogue records name Cal. 3035. The movement guide lists the 3035 as a quick-set date caliber; see Cal. 3035. Chiswick assigns Cal. 1570 to its circa-1981 watch; the online catalogue shows no movement photograph. The other listings concern different watches, so Chiswick's attribution stays attached to lot 33.

Dial map

Champagne or gold-tone dials with applied baton markers appear in several records. Antiquorum describes faceted gold batons, luminous dots and an outer seconds track on case 9,110,433. The 2020 RolexForums seller describes luminous batons on a gold-tone dial; the partial serial may match an archived Bonhams record, so those records are not counted as two watches.

Grays records a linen-pattern dial on one circa-1985 example. Whether this was a regular option or when it appeared remains open.

Case, bezel, crystal, and crown

Catalogues mostly describe 34 mm cases in 14k yellow gold. One Bonhams listing archived by EveryWatch says 18ct; its partial serial may match a later listing for a 14k watch, so the two records could describe the same case. A second Bonhams archive assigns 14k and 33 mm to a watch it labels Datejust and identifies as 15007. The catalogue descriptions conflict, leaving the specification uncertain. Antiquorum calls its case polished and brushed, with a screw-down back and crown; Sotheby's describes a screw-down back on case R'277'170.

Smooth or polished bezels appear in several 15007 listings. The sold listing and the BQ record also describe smooth bezels. The 2010 Bonhams catalogue archived by EveryWatch describes a fluted Jubilee bezel on a watch it calls 15007 and gives the case as 18ct gold. A 2025 Bonhams archive shows a fluted 14k watch but calls it a Datejust while assigning ref. 15007; the case engraving is out of frame. Whether the fluted bezel belongs to a 15007 remains unsettled.

Crystal material varies between records. The sold listing and the BQ listing text describe acrylic, and a third-party parts list assigns an acrylic crystal component. BQ's included certificate says sapphire; it is seller-supplied rather than a Rolex document. These records leave the reference-wide crystal specification unsettled.

Bracelets, clasps, and packaging

The records show both a 14k Jubilee bracelet and a 14k rivet Oyster bracelet. Sotheby's describes an 18k Oyster bracelet attached to a 14k case, without dating when it was fitted. BQ's photographs show a folding clasp and bracelet from several angles, though the clasp date code cannot be read.

Chiswick notes a later box and an original booklet. Antiquorum records an original certificate that is now void. Sotheby's lists booklets, a numbered hang tag and presentation packaging. These accessories belong to separate watches; the records do not define a standard package for the reference.

Caseback marks and provenance claims

Antiquorum reports a Chevrolet trademark on case 9,110,433 and titles the lot “Chevrolet Promotion.” Robert Maron's archive appears to describe the same case, based on the matching 9,110xxx number; treat the two records as one watch. Maron's title says 18k, while its details and body say 14k. Antiquorum records the mark but leaves its origin and purpose unstated. The catalogues describe a Chevrolet-marked case, without identifying a Rolex factory commission or employee award.

Sotheby's records a monogram on case R'277'170, a separate watch. A RolexForums seller describes a 15007 as a 20-year Schlumberger award watch; the post supplies no award document, so the provenance remains a seller claim. Its partial serial begins 9,876, overlapping Bonhams' 987****; the two listings may describe the same watch and are treated as one example.
